The optional $19.99 USD complete plan adds full guides, preparation details, official links where available, and local progress tracking. You prepare, sign, and submit each update yourself. My New Surname does not prepare forms, mail documents, or file for you. Government and other third-party fees are separate.

Some services prepare forms or send you printed materials. My New Surname helps you see which updates apply, what needs to happen first, where to find the official instructions, and where you left off. It includes reviewed state guidance and progress saved in your browser for $19.99 USD once. If you want forms filled out or mailed to you, choose a provider that offers that service; My New Surname does not.

20 states are currently covered: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington. Each state is individually verified against its own official agency pages, with the verification date shown. The most recent state verification is September 2026. More states are added as they pass that bar.

Start with the marriage proof each office or institution accepts. Then check your state’s instructions for Social Security and your license or ID. Some updates need an earlier step completed; others can happen separately. Passport, vehicle, voter, employer, bank, and insurance records each have their own requirements. Your plan shows what needs to happen first where the official guidance supports it.

The timing depends on agency processing, available appointments, document delivery, upcoming travel, and how many accounts you need to update. Your plan points out what needs to happen first and links to current official guidance, so you can plan around those separate timelines. It does not promise a completion date.

Check your state’s published instructions. Some covered states require or recommend updating Social Security first; others do not publish a waiting period we can verify. Nevada requires Social Security first and says electronic verification may take two or more business days. Follow the note for your state before planning the DMV visit.

Start by comparing the name on your booking with the travel document you will use. Read the current passport and carrier guidance, and check the processing options before submitting a document. Whether to act before or after the trip depends on your itinerary. Your plan flags the timing decision so you can check it before acting.

No. Ohio law has no provision for changing the name on an existing vehicle title. County Clerk of Courts title offices issue a new title only when ownership transfers. Update your driver’s license and registration records instead. The title catches up when the vehicle is next sold or refinanced.

No. A name change is a project with an end date, so the product has one payment. If you need access on another browser, send support your receipt. Once the purchase is verified, support can restore paid access. Local answers and progress do not transfer.

Never. My New Surname tells you what to bring to each agency. It does not collect your Social Security number, upload your documents, or file anything on your behalf. Your answers stay on your device.

Your answers and progress stay in the browser where you created them. Return using that browser to pick up your plan. Clearing browser data, using another browser, or ending a private-browsing session can remove access to those local records. Purchase recovery restores verified paid access; it cannot recreate your answers or progress.

Yes. Send support your receipt at support@mynewsurname.com. Once the purchase is verified, support can restore paid access on another browser. Your original answers and progress cannot be recreated during purchase recovery. You can answer the questionnaire again on the new browser if you want to rebuild your plan.
